I love being a writer. Really love it. But if someone said to me that I could never write again, and I could choose some other fun thing to do, I think I would be a food critic.
I guess you must be able to write about the food if you are a critic, but maybe they would let me just go around and taste great food.
In my first novel, Dark Lord of Kismera, Drace and his aunt Cerise get to travel through Europe. I let my readers know some of the delicious dishes they got to nosh on.
Being that I’m not a world traveler, yet, I had to dig through cookbooks and the web for dishes from the countries they visited.
I have had French cuisine once, and I love Chinese and Italian. Of course, living in Texas, Tex-Mex is a given.
But it would be so much fun to jet off to exotic locations and sample the local fare every day.
And while I’m in this fantasy life, enjoying vichyssoise and gelato, I wouldn’t gain an ounce.
Oh, and there would be endless cups of delicious coffee, without any chance of coffee overload.
Hey, if you’re going to have a dream job, dream BIG!
Definitely a dream job! I love food too, and have vivid memories of some of the most enjoyable meals I’ve experienced. (And many years ago I created a terrific recipe for vichyssoise. I’ll share! 😉)
